Developer Support Engineer

Your Role

We are looking for a Developer Support Engineer to drive the performance of our systems and core IT platforms with the following core activities:

– You will carry out, under guidance and supervision, software development and system support developments.
– Support responsibilities will consist of both support and troubleshooting on a variety of systems including Microsoft Nav, our ERP, along with integration software and PHP to link with API’s for online selling platforms, as well as small development projects that contribute to the robustness of the system suite.
– There will be an element of SQL database work and part of the role will be hands on work solving a few issues with hardware. This role requires strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
– You will also be a key point of contact for all business functions including Operations, Commercial and Finance, helping to drive forward the core suite of systems and ensure best practice across the business. Cross functional training will also be carried out by this role.

Experience Required:

– Knowledge of Microsoft Nav or similar ERP system,
– Have knowledge of programming languages, data structures, algorithms,
– Have knowledge and experience of developing computer software and can demonstrate knowledge of related concepts, practices, and processes,
– Have professional experience developing, and troubleshooting software in languages such as: PHP and SQL and with mark-up languages such as HTML and XML,
– Knowledge of API’s and how to communicate with them,
– Have the ability to understand business needs
– Possesses knowledge of aspects of computer technology outside of software development, including hardware, networking, operating systems, and database management systems
– Possesses good verbal and written communication skills, as applied to both technical and non-technical subject matter
– Have knowledge of one-or-more software development methodologies (e.g. Waterfall, Scrum)
– Passion for testing to ensure high quality software
– Good team player
– Focus on improving and evolving collaboration
– Who own’s their work, end-to-end and ensures clear and concise handover to anyone taking delivery of it.
– Is able to switch priorities, depending on needs’ as required.


In addition, we are also looking for:

– Relevant degree preferable
– ERP experience
– Software languages – PHP & SQL
– Programming language skills
– Knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
– Excellent communication skills both verbally and written
– Eager to learn and develop and continuously improve own skills/capability
– Demonstrable problem solving skills
– To be highly organised, focused, and able to prioritise workload effectively when managing multiple tasks
– Teamwork skills are highly important
